15mm desert scene - Serpent priest with "congregation".

A small scene on my desert terrain board. The serpent preach has waylaid some villagers with his hypnotic sermonizing.

The serpent is from Splintered Light Son of Snakes series. Painted with Golden highflow acrylics and a pin wash.

The lady villagers are Egyptian townfolk from Blue Moon. Nicely sculpted and the whole set is done in a 1920's -'30s style. Painted with the Goldens, but just a broad sepia wash to finish them.

I have some old school minis to post next month!

Heritage 25mm mini in grey scale

This was a grey scale painting exercise using only blacks, whites, and greys. I used vallejo grey black, off white, and white. This is a 1978 Heritage 1104-E Superhero from Der Kreigspeilers Fantastiques 1100 range. The set was "Flying Gargoyle chief abducting maidens from Superhero's harem".

The set also contains a gargoyle chief, base, and 2 maidens, but I think this was a set that was split up between friends, as I only have the one mini.

I had stripped this mini down earlier and his shield had cross lines scribed into it with what may have been an Xacto. I used a dremel to buff them out, luckily they weren't that deep.

15 mm Owlbear- a twanax modification

I set aside 2 of the Twanax to use to try to make Owlbears for the wilderness outside the Dungeon.

Using sculpey, I made about 10 attempts at sculpting the head, trying different styles until I got pretty close to what I wanted and could repeat the steps needed to mold the head. I made the one for the actual Twanax modification out of Aves.

With the head done, I used a dremel to carve away the Twanax head and a little into the chest area. Attached the head and then blended the body fur with Aves.

on the painting mount.

in the wild.

Initially I had a nice feather pattern on the head, but after toying with it too much kind of lost the pattern and couldn't get it back as Aves was beginning to harden. Decided not to do a second round of sculpting on the head since I didn't want it to get to big.
I have one more twanax, so I will be making either another one similar to this or I might try the head of a barn owl
